Urine Mineral Analysis (UMA)
Urine Mineral Analysis (UMA) monitors the amount of elements
excreted by the body. After toxic exposure, urine levels increase for up to 48 hours.
Within that time, UMA is used to confirm toxic exposure. UMA also allows close monitoring
of a patient's response to chelation therapy, because the urine sample will reflect the
quantity of metal removed from the system. In healthy individuals, a low mineral intake
generally results in a reduced urinary output, and vice versa.
