• Highly toxic to cells

• Impedes Vit. D metabolism

• Causes kidney damage

• Smokers are at high risk of developing Prostate cancer

• Factory workers exposed to Cd have a 2.4x higher risk of developing prostate cancer

• Biological half-life: 20-30 years

• Half-life in blood: 2.5 months

• Firmly binds to tissue

• Accumulates in bone, liver, kidneys, prostate

• Slowly excreted via urine
