Lead (Pb) & US Governmental regulations
In 1988 EPA estimated that 7% of all American children had lead levels associated with neurobehavioral deficits
By1991, 47 US states had developed childhood lead prevention activities
Water lead levels were regulated not to exceed 15mcg/L
Still, in 1991, 8,9% of children age 1-5 or 1.7million had unacceptable blood lead levels
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that all children be screened for lead poisoning at least once per year for children 6 mo to 6 years, and that blood lead levels do not exceed 10mcg/dl
